Every summer, Ta’ Qali fills up with thousands of people clutching cold beers and it somehow never gets old. The Farsons Beer Festival is one of those events that feels like a genuine Maltese institution – the kind of thing locals look forward to for months and visitors stumble upon and then talk about for years.
This year it runs from Thursday 23rd July to Saturday 1st August 2026, ten full days at the National Park Ta’ Qali. And yes – entrance is completely free.
What Is the Farsons Beer Festival?
Organised by Farsons, Malta’s home-grown brewery, this is not a craft beer geek convention or a formal tasting event. It’s big, lively, and genuinely fun for almost everyone – families, groups of friends, couples, tourists who happen to be in Malta at the right time. The tagline sums it up well: ten days of great beer, live music, food, and fun.
Ta’ Qali is a great setting for it. The national park sits in the middle of the island, not far from Mdina, and it’s spacious enough to hold a serious crowd without feeling suffocating. On a warm July evening (and they are all warm in July), with a cold Cisk in hand and live music in the air, it’s hard to complain.

What to Expect
Beer (Obviously)
Farsons produces some of Malta’s most loved beers – Cisk Lager, Hopleaf Pale Ale, Blue Label Ale among others – and the festival is the best place to try them in a proper setting. There are usually local and international options available at the bar, with purchases made on-site.
Food
Food stalls are set up throughout the festival, so you’re not just drinking on an empty stomach. Expect a mix of Maltese staples and broader festival food – nothing too complicated, but solid enough to keep you going through the evening.
Live Music
This is a big part of the atmosphere. Live acts perform throughout the ten days, covering a range of genres. The music keeps the energy up without being overwhelming – it’s background-to-your-evening rather than a concert you have to stand and watch, though plenty of people do exactly that.
Family Friendly
The Farsons Beer Festival is notably family friendly, which sets it apart from a lot of similar events elsewhere. Kids are welcome, there’s space to move around, and the park setting helps. If you’re visiting Malta with family and want an easy, free evening out, this fits the bill well.
Accessible
The festival is wheelchair accessible, which is always worth mentioning and not always the case for outdoor events in Malta.
Getting There
Ta’ Qali sits roughly in the centre of the island, easily reachable from most parts of Malta. There is parking available on site, which is useful given that it’s not the most straightforward spot to reach by public transport in the evenings. If you’re staying in St Julian’s, Sliema, or Valletta, a taxi or Bolt ride is probably the most convenient option and won’t cost much given the distances involved in Malta.
Worth Going?
If you’re in Malta anytime between 23rd July and 1st August, yes – go at least one evening. The free entrance means there’s no commitment involved; you can show up, have a couple of beers and some food, catch a bit of live music, and head home whenever. It doesn’t ask much of you, and it delivers a genuinely enjoyable evening in return.
It gets busy on weekends, especially the final few days, so a midweek visit is worth considering if you prefer a slightly more relaxed crowd.
