Ghar Lapsi
Ghar Lapsi is a little cove in the low limestone cliffs in the south west of Malta. A popular watering hole, Ghar Lapsi is a natural lido and a good spot for snorkelling and diving.
The enclosed cove is situated at the bottom of twisting road which leads to a car park. Across the road from the ghar lapsi restaurant is a steep slope and stair case leading to the cove.
Translated from Maltese to English, Ghar Lapsi means "Cave of the Ascension", a name it was given this name when local fishermen had a little shrine here. Today, Ghar Lapsi has a popular following of a different kind - cave divers.
Ghar Lapsi and it vivid, clear blue waters offers some of the best cave diving to be found in the waters of the islands of Malta. Although there are many caverns, caves and reefs in the waters of Ghar Lapsi, the favourite here is a 40m long cave. Long, shallow and well-lit, the cave is large enough for divers to swim together.
