If you have a weakness for cakes, pastries and chocolate, put Sunday 1 November 2026 in your diary. The Sweet Tooth Festival takes place at Villa Rundle Gardens in Victoria (Rabat), Gozo, from 10:00 to 17:00, and entry is free. It is organised by the Events Unit of Gozo’s Cultural Heritage Directorate.
What is the Sweet Tooth Festival?
It is a one-day celebration of all things sweet. Local confectioners, bakers and small producers set up stalls around the garden, and the whole place turns into a big outdoor dessert table. Expect a mix of modern treats and traditional Gozitan and Maltese sweets, which is a nice chance to try things you will not always find in a regular café.
What to expect
- Desserts and pastries – cakes, artisan pastries and traditional delicacies.
- Chocolate and ice cream – from local makers, perfect for a walk around the garden.
- Family activities – entertainment and interactive experiences for children and adults.
The list of stalls and the exact entertainment programme had not been published when we wrote this, so it is worth checking the Events in Gozo listings a few days before. Entry is free, but the treats themselves are paid, so bring some cash as not every stall may take cards.
Tips for visitors
1 November is All Saints’ Day, an important day in Malta and Gozo when many families visit churches and cemeteries. Mornings tend to be quieter at the festival, while early afternoon is usually the busiest time. Villa Rundle is a lovely shaded public garden with old trees and benches, so it is easy to spend an hour or two here with children. If you love sweet things, also look out for the Ħamrun Chocolate Festival on the main island, and our guide to Maltese food for traditional sweets worth trying.
How to get there
Villa Rundle Gardens is on Triq ir-Repubblika (Republic Street), the main street of Victoria, just a short walk from the bus terminus. From Mġarr Harbour, buses run regularly to Victoria, or it is about a 15-minute drive. Parking in the centre of Victoria can be hard on busy days, so the bus is often easier. Coming from Malta, take the Gozo Channel ferry from Ċirkewwa, or the fast ferry from Valletta.
Make a day of it: the Citadel is a few minutes’ walk away, and our things to do in Gozo guide has plenty more ideas for the rest of the weekend.
