Prehistoric Jewellery Workshop at Ħaġar Qim: Kids’ Activity on 4 November 2026

Ħaġar Qim is one of the oldest free-standing buildings in the world, and on Wednesday 4 November 2026 younger children get a chance to see it through the eyes of the people who lived here thousands of years ago. Heritage Malta’s Prehistoric Jewellery workshop mixes a short guided visit of the temple with a craft session at the end.

What children will do

The workshop runs from 10:00 to 11:30 and is meant for children aged 7 to 10. The group tours the site and talks about how prehistoric communities used the natural materials around them for clothes, shelter and food. To finish, each child makes their own piece of jewellery inspired by prehistory, so they go home with something they made themselves.

Price and places

  • €10 per child, which includes entry for one accompanying adult.
  • Only 15 places, so it can fill up fast.
  • Book through Heritage Malta online or at one of their museums and sites. Check availability before you travel.

Tips for families

  • The site sits on an open clifftop above the sea, so it can be windy. Bring a jacket, sun cream and water.
  • The visitor centre has a short film and displays that help younger kids understand what they are about to see.
  • Stay a little longer and walk the path down to Mnajdra, the neighbouring temple with lovely views over the sea and the islet of Filfla.
  • If your children enjoy this, the National Museum of Archaeology in Valletta displays many of the real objects found at the temples.

How to get there

Ħaġar Qim is just outside Qrendi on the south coast. There is a car park at the visitor centre, and buses from Valletta run to the temples, often with a change; check the Malta Public Transport journey planner for the best connection.
