Gozo International Kite and Wind Festival 2026: Colourful Kites Over Għarb, 16 to 18 October

Every October the skies above the Għarb countryside in Gozo fill with giant, colourful kites. In 2026 the International Kite and Wind Festival runs for three days, from Friday 16th to Sunday 18th October, in the San Dimitri area of Għarb. Entry is free.

What to expect

Kite displays by flyers from different countries, hands-on activities inspired by the wind, and family entertainment in an international atmosphere. New this year are night shows on Friday and Saturday in the San Dimitri area, weather permitting.

Getting there

  • The organisers encourage visitors to use the Park and Ride service from Victoria to avoid traffic. If you drive, follow the marshals’ directions along the roads.
  • Gozo Channel ferries run from Ċirkewwa to Mġarr all day and night. Allow extra time on a festival weekend.
  • Bring a hat, water and a light jacket, as the area is open and exposed to the wind.

Make a day of it

Għarb is one of Gozo’s quietest villages, close to the cliffs and the Basilica of Ta’ Pinu. See our guide to things to do in Gozo, and our weekend guide for everything else on this weekend.

Details are taken from published event listings and news reports. The night shows depend on the weather. Check with the Għarb Local Council (21560556) before you go.
