Żurrieq Half Marathon and 10K 2026: Run Malta’s South on 15 November

Every November, the quiet streets of Żurrieq fill with runners for one of the friendliest road races on the Maltese calendar. The Żurrieq Half Marathon and 10K returns on Sunday 15 November 2026, and it is a lovely way to see the south of Malta at an easy pace, with cool morning air instead of summer heat.

Races and start times

  • Half marathon (21.1 km): starts at 7:00
  • 10 km run: starts at 7:45
  • 10 km walk: also on the programme, start time still to be confirmed
  • Kids Race (1.5 km): starts at 9:45

All races start in front of the parish church of Żurrieq. The route heads through the village and the surrounding countryside of the south, so expect some gentle climbs and open views rather than a flat seafront course.

Entry fees

Registration listings show the half marathon and 10K at €25 if you sign up before 25 October 2026, rising to €30 after that date. The Kids Race costs €8 until 1 November and €10 after. Prices and closing dates can change, so check the organiser’s registration page before you pay.

Tips for visitors

  • Arrive early. Streets around the church close before the start and parking fills fast.
  • November mornings in Malta are mild, but bring a light layer for the wait before the gun.
  • Supporters can cheer from the church square, which also has cafés open for a post-race breakfast.
  • Make a day of it: the Blue Grotto and the clifftop Ħaġar Qim and Mnajdra temples are only a few minutes’ drive away.

Looking for something shorter first? The UM x APS Bank Ring Road Races are a good warm-up event earlier in the season.

How to get there

Żurrieq is in the south of Malta, around 20 minutes by car from Valletta. On race morning, traffic in the village centre will be limited, so park on the outskirts and walk in. Buses serve Żurrieq from Valletta, but early Sunday services are less frequent and some routes may be diverted for the race, so check times the day before.
