Fairyland, the Christmas village that fills the space between Triton Square and the Granaries in Floriana, is coming back for 2026. The organisers confirm it will run from Friday 4 December 2026 to Sunday 3 January 2027, and they say this edition of Santa’s City will be bigger than before.
What to expect
The full 2026 line-up has not been published yet, so treat this as a guide based on recent editions. Last year Fairyland included:
- A Christmas market with gift stalls, seasonal food and drinks
- An ice-skating rink
- Rudolph’s Wheel, a big wheel with views over the Valletta skyline
- Small rides and mini-games for younger children
- Santa and his elves, plus interactive play areas
Expect most attractions to be paid separately, with the market area free to walk around. Opening hours and ticket prices were still “coming soon” on the official website at the time of writing, so check before you go.
Tips for visitors
- Go on a weekday evening if you can. Weekend evenings and the days around Christmas are very busy, especially at the rink.
- Combine it with Valletta: the lights of Christmas in Valletta start just through City Gate, so you can walk from Fairyland straight into the decorated streets.
- Dress warmly: the Granaries are a large open square and can be windy on December nights.
- Book rides online once tickets go on sale to skip queues.
How to get there
Fairyland sits right next to Valletta Bus Terminus, so almost every bus route in Malta brings you within a few minutes’ walk. Driving is harder: parking around Floriana fills up quickly in the evenings, and the Park and Ride at Floriana is a better bet. From Sliema, the ferry to Valletta and a short walk through the city is a pleasant option.
